Born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1968, Ronald Baker has lived in Touraine for twenty years and more recently in Paris. He studied with Kenny Davis, Donald Byrd, Jay Jay Johnson and John Faddis.
The director Alain Corneau noticed him and made him work in his film "Le Nouveau Monde", which was released in 1995. Very quickly integrated into the musical world, Ronald Baker multiplied his encounters - the usual lot of any jazzman - and gradually formed his own quintet.
He claims to be a Freddie Hubbard when it comes to the trumpet, and George Benson and Al Jarreau when it comes to the art of the crooner, influences that he defends effectively on stage, with numerous concerts and festivals to his credit: Montreal Jazz Festival (2003), Festival in New Jersey, Jazz in Marciac (1997, 2002), Montreux Jazz Festival (1998), Festival de Jazz en Touraine (1997, 1999, 2000), Festival Django Reinhardt, Festival Jazzellerault, La Coursive scène nationale de La Rochelle, Le Petit Journal Montparnasse, Festival de jazz d'Orléans, Festival jazz de Montpellier...).
