The Galerie de l'Uzège, in Uzès, is delighted to invite you to its exhibition on Friday 4 November from 5pm at the opening of the exhibition FLOW CUT in the presence of the artist. You can also meet Marco Mencacci on 5 and 6 November at the gallery.
Marco Mencacci has been working with Murano glass since the 1980s. He has worked with the greatest master glassmakers at Barovier & Toso, the iconic house on the Venetian island that holds the ancestral tradition of making this famous transparent crystal.
Inspired by the founding elements and sentiments of nature, the languages of colour and matter are captured in crystal as soon as they are blown. Like the beginning of life, the shapes move in their glass embryo. The magic happens, and glass reveals all its richness.
"Just as on the surface of a cubist painting, an angularity, a protruding profile, a diamond or icicle cut, accelerates the point of view, which on the contrary becomes languid on a curvature, or rushes into the rapid staccato of a form almost buttoned onto itself". (Elisabeth Lebovici, extract from the catalogue preface Blow Cut, 2021).
